currently working on...

As I am sitting here at my desk, waiting for my latest order to print. I thought I would share it with you. :) These is a save the date design I just finished doing for the lovely bas and bunny. And the rubber stamp I custom designed and had made as a gift for her order. I love the idea of branding weddings, haha :) Hope you like!

Urban Chic

I had the pleasure of working with miss Lindsay last week for her awesomely modern/chic/fabulous wedding invitations. They are having a small ceremony the day before and not having invitations for that. But they wanted to have invitations for their reception the day after, at this uber cool and modern bar/lounge. She also wanted little cards to put in frames on the tables where they were going to be, and a larger one for the main table. She picked one of my favorite designs, my champagne bubbles invitation. Her colors were grey, black, and blush pink. At first the invitation was going to have the pink bubbles, but we came to the conclusion that it might be too much pink for Todd, a hunting/guinness drinking fella.

I think this is one of my favorite invitation suites so far. :)

I heart wedding banners...

So I had this idea to start making these cute pennant banners for couples to use on their engagement photos, decorations, whatever their hearts desired. But before I started selling them I wanted to get awesome pictures of them. I personally dont have a wedding dress to put on and take pictures of myself, so I contacted some photographers and offered them for free. All they had to do was send me the pics with the banners, so it was a win win.

How freaking cute do they look!!!!!! They will be for sale very soon on my etsy. :)

This picture was shot by Scott Kretschmann Photography, a really cool husband and wife team. Thanks Lisa!!! Oh, and this couples story is on their blog, and its AMAZING!

Rain... rain... and more rain...

Ohhhh my goooddddddd, can it stop raining! Its been gloomy and rainy for a whole week! I don't know if you know about New England weather, but it sucks ass! Sorry for the trucker language, but it just does. As I sit here in my messy cluttered office, which just looking at it makes me go into a fit of rage, I think... why do people live here! Now I get why people are baffled when I tell them I am from Puerto Rico and choose to live here. Obviously if my fiance and I had a choice and unlimited money we would live in an island like St. John. He could work as a scuba instructor for yuppie tourists and I can work at the front desk of a 5 star hotel, haha. We would live in a small beach house where there is sand all around, not inside though because that would drive me nuts. Brooklyn, our dog, would be a beach bum. She would always have sand on her nose, she loves to sniff it, and would chase birds off the beach as a side job. Ah, to dream.

Its hard to be creative and inspired when its like this outside, and all I can think about is how sand feels in the mornings... cool.

Country Wedding Invitation

So lately the trend is farm/country/rustic/mason jar type weddings. I wanted to create an invitation that gave me a charming country feel to it. Came up with this design... let me know what you think!

They are so pretty I wanna hug them!

I got contacted a few weeks ago by Rene' "the story keeper", this ridiculously AMAZING wedding photographer in Orange County. I mean, her pictures make you want to get married over and over again. For some reason every single wedding she photographs should be featured on Martha Stewart. She has a way of taking the simplest detail at a wedding and photographing it in a way that makes you feel enchanted. And if you ever read her blog get ready to cry people. Anyways, back from my tangent, she contacted me because she wanted me to send her a few samples of my wedding invitations for her to use on a blog post.

She has noticed that brides tend to choose their invites to quickly, without really thinking about their personality and the style of the wedding. I, honestly, have noticed that too many brides are getting their wedding invitations from certain online printers which shall remain nameless...cough vistaprint! cough. Sorry, I had something in my throat. And are choosing poorly (i'm being nice) designed invitations to announce one of the most important days of their life... hopefully.

She thought my invitations were the type of invitations brides should be getting. Uber flattered and in shock someone thinks about my invitations like that, I sent her anything and everything she asked for.

So a few days ago she emailed me some of the pictures she had taken. I opened my email and was floored. Never could I imagine my invitations looking so pretty. I just stared at the pictures, and kept opening my email to look at them, they made me so happy. So without further adieu, here they are... in all their glory. Now I have to figure out how to take pictures like this at home... sigh.

Lets get some things straight...

sta·tion·er·y [stey-shuh-ner-ee]
1. writing paper.
2. writing materials, as pens, pencils, paper, and envelopes.

AND...

sta·tion·ar·y [stey-shuh-ner-ee]
1. standing still; not moving.
2. having a fixed position; not movable.
3. established in one place; not itinerant or migratory.

Very different.

Zazzle Crazy!!!

So, I just opened a Zazzle store... maybe the funnest thing ever!!!! I haven't had this much fun in weeks! I know, sad, I lead a simple life. So I started looking for illustrations or fun designs I have done and placing them on mugs, stickers, even dog shirts! Its pretty cool all the things you can print your designs on. I even took designs from my cards and used them on some things. I cant wait to keep creating things and seeing how they would look on pretty much anything and everything. I even found this really pretty bride illustration I had created and made this super cute binder...

Whats cool about Zazzle is that I only have to upload my designs, and they take care of printing it on whatever you want. Its going to be great to be able to offer brides and customers all these things using their wedding suite design. Here are a few others I created...

Its soooo fun!!!!

Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away...

I try and create new invitation designs every day... emphasis on try. Some are more my style than others, by my style I mean something I would use for my actual wedding. The other day, for some weird reason unbeknownst to me (please pause for the fact that I am amazed I just used the word unbeknownst) I had the Frank Sinatra song "Come fly with me" in my mind. It kept playing like a broken record. And I sat in front of my computer and brainstormed... and brainstormed... read some TMZ... and brainstormed... and then! Aha! A GE energy efficient light bulb went off in my brain... or is it on? I wanted to design something not just pretty, but that it made you think of that song. Something a bride wearing a tea-length dress with yellow heels just had to have to announce her wedding. A wedding with a multi-colored candy buffet, yellow and sorbet orange macaroons, and a cupcake tower. Can you tell Im hungry?

So here is the design I came up with, and I am inloooovvveee with it. It makes me happy. And hopefully it will be chosen my a lovely couple that will love them as much as I do. My designs are my children, and even though all parents say they love all their kids equally...Im looking at you mom... some are just special.

The makings of a make believe couple...

Designing wedding invitations without actually having a real live couple to base them on is harder than I thought. I like all of my invitations to have a distinct personality, but still be vague enough that more than one person will like them. Its hard to design them to each have a different style, but still look like I did them. So lately I have been creating fake couples for each design. I try to imagine what type of apartment/house they live in, what car do they have, range rover or mini coupe? Do they shop at whole foods or trader joes? We used to do this in the advertising agency I worked at, they are called mood boards. What type of people will visit this site or buy this product? Its a lot of fun when you get really into it and start pin pointing very distinct personality traits.  Can you guess what the couple for this invitations is like?

Have fun with it, think of really specific details...:)

Mmmm Brownies...

I put a lot of pressure on myself when I create any design. Its what keeps me up at night, what makes me have notebooks to sketch on in every corner of my apartment, what makes me eat a whole pan of brownies. I started designing wedding invitations when I actually had to start designing my own. Oh the pressure. I never would have thought how tormenting it was going to be designing my own invitations. This is it...this is my only chance to do this. The wedding invitation is what "brands" a wedding. Its your wedding and you in a nutshell, on paper, for all to keep. I treat every invitation design as if it was my own. And hopefully it comes through the screen when you are looking at my designs on etsy. Here are a few of the very first designs.
