The makings of a make believe couple...

Designing wedding invitations without actually having a real live couple to base them on is harder than I thought. I like all of my invitations to have a distinct personality, but still be vague enough that more than one person will like them. Its hard to design them to each have a different style, but still look like I did them. So lately I have been creating fake couples for each design. I try to imagine what type of apartment/house they live in, what car do they have, range rover or mini coupe? Do they shop at whole foods or trader joes? We used to do this in the advertising agency I worked at, they are called mood boards. What type of people will visit this site or buy this product? Its a lot of fun when you get really into it and start pin pointing very distinct personality traits.  Can you guess what the couple for this invitations is like?

Have fun with it, think of really specific details...:)

Mmmm Brownies...

I put a lot of pressure on myself when I create any design. Its what keeps me up at night, what makes me have notebooks to sketch on in every corner of my apartment, what makes me eat a whole pan of brownies. I started designing wedding invitations when I actually had to start designing my own. Oh the pressure. I never would have thought how tormenting it was going to be designing my own invitations. This is it...this is my only chance to do this. The wedding invitation is what "brands" a wedding. Its your wedding and you in a nutshell, on paper, for all to keep. I treat every invitation design as if it was my own. And hopefully it comes through the screen when you are looking at my designs on etsy. Here are a few of the very first designs.

My Very First Blog Post...a little about me.

As you read in my post title, half a second ago, this is my very first blog post...ever. I figured I would use my very first post to tell you a little about me. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. You might have a few questions about Puerto Rico, well here are a few answers to questions I have been asked multiple times...

1. No, we don't speak puerto rican, we speak spanish.
2. No, it does not snow in Puerto Rico, its a tropical island.
3. Puerto Rico is in the Caribbean, next to the Dominican Republic.
4. The Dominican Republic is next to Cuba.
5. Cuba is south of Florida.
6. No, we don't all live on the beach.
7. Yes, there are McDonalds.
8. Yes, planes do fly there.
9. Yes, we have roads.
10. Yes, I am the only person from Puerto Rico that speaks english.

You might be thinking, there is no way someone has asked her if more people speak english other than her... not only have I been asked that, but I've been asked that more than 10 times in my lifetime.

Ok enough sarcasm, which is something you will notice often from me, on to more stuff about me. I live in Massachusetts with my fiance (the most gorgeous man ever) and our tiny yorkie Brooklyn (who thinks she is a bull mastif). I currently work from home, and am constantly trying to dyi something for our apartment. I have an unhealthy love for shoes. I love baking, especially cupcakes and cookies, and then eating them. I have trouble remembering conversations I have with my fiance today, but I can still quote Cinderella and Little Mermaid. Oh yeah!

In this blog I will usually post about any current designs I am working on, maybe some past ones, and also designs from other great designers. So if you have something you would love for me to talk about, feel free to contact me! Hope to see you back here.
